Leading sparkling water continues transition to safer, lighter packaging
TOWNSHIP OF PUSLINCH, Ontario -- Nestlé Waters Canada, Canada’s marketshare-leading manufacturer and distributor of healthy beverage choices, today unveiled Perrier Sparkling Natural Spring Water, the country’s best top-selling imported sparkling beverage, in 1-litre PET (polyethylene terephthalate) packaging, continuing the transition from glass to convenient, lighter and safer plastic bottles that began in 2002.
Perrier Sparkling Natural Spring Water is available in four sugar-free, zero-calorie flavours – lemon, lime, pink grapefruit and original – as well as four 100% recyclable sizes – 250ml (aluminum), 330ml (glass), 500ml (PET) and and 1-litre (PET). The 750ml glass bottle will be discontinued over the next few months.
“The new 1-litre PET bottle is an elegant fusion of design, function and environmental sustainability,” explains Jennifer Semley-Robert, Marketing Manager, International Brands, Nestlé Waters Canada. “Incorporating the classic Perrier branding, look and feel known around the world, the new packaging will be a sleek addition to any setting, whether dining or entertaining.”
To ensure the integrity of all Perrier sparkling waters, the packaging technology behind the innovative PET is the result of decades of research by Nestlé Waters. The unique PET plastic retains the ultimate quality of freshness and preserves the naturally carbonated bubbles. This packaging was developed specifically for Perrier and is made possible by the bottle consisting of two layers of PET plastic, sandwiching a layer of nylon called MXD-6. This structure considerably limits carbonation loss.
"The new plastic PET bottle guarantees the true taste of Perrier, combined with accessibility for everyone, and transportability anywhere," adds Ms. Semley Robert. “Perrier delivers on Canadians’ growing desire for a flavourful yet natural, no-calorie alternative to artificial-flavoured and high-calorie beverages. Perrier offers a tasty, thirst-quenching healthy choice that will keep consumers properly hydrated in the most convenient, satisfying and pleasurable way possible.”
Perrier 1-litre Sparkling Natural Spring Water is available at leading retailers, convenience stores and restaurateurs across Canada at a suggested list price of $1.79.
Perrier Sparkling Natural Spring Water, which dates back millions of years, was first widely imported to Canada in 1979. It comes from a source in the south of France. Located near the small village of Vergeze, in Provence, the spring’s unique balance of minerals and light effervescence provides its distinctively fresh, clean taste. It is this singular blend of gasses and minerals which have made Perrier the world’s most requested carbonated spring water.
