Nestlé Waters Canada donates $45,000 to District of Hope for new playground equipment

Kawkawa Lake Municipal Park gets commercial playground equipment

HOPE, British Columbia -- Nestlé Waters Canada, Canada’s market share-leading manufacturer and distributor of healthy beverage products, today announced that it has donated $45,000 to the District of Hope for the purposes of purchasing and installing new commercial playground equipment at Kawkawa Lake Municipal Park.

Installation of the playground equipment was completed earlier this month and it is now in use. The popular local park also features a sandy beach, public swimming, grassy recreational play area, boat launch, park benches, picnic tables and restrooms.

“We are thrilled with Nestlé Waters Canada’s significant donation to the park and our community,” said Laurie French, Mayor, District of Hope. “This is yet another example of the Company’s commitment to working with our District to further enhance what is already one of the very best communities in British Columbia in which to live, work and play.”

“We are a very proud member of the Hope business community,” said Kevin Thorburn, Supply Chain Manager, Nestlé Waters Canada. “Kawkawa Lake Municipal Park is a significant local recreational area and tourist attraction. It is important that this park offers a range of recreational activities for all ages. The addition of the new playground equipment is a great enhancement to what it already offers visitors.”

“Nestlé Waters Canada is proud to be associated with this project,” said John Zupo, President, Nestlé Waters Canada. “Given that 30 percent of Canadians are either overweight, obese or susceptible to diabetes and the fact that obesity has been identified as Canada’s most critical emerging health issue -- particularly amongst children born after the year 2000, it is important that all young people in Hope have access to safe playground equipment that affords them daily physical exercise. That, combined with proper hydration and good nutrition, will create the right environment for healthy living.”
