New taste contains 10% orange, 6% pomegranate juices from concentrate
TOWNSHIP OF PUSLINCH, Ontario – Nestlé Waters Canada, Canada’s marketshare-leading manufacturer and distributor of healthy beverage choices, today introduced a new addition to its market-share leading family of Sanpellegrino® Sparking Fruit Beverage products – Pomegranate Orange.
The new Pomegranate Orange flavour contains 10% orange juice and 6% pomegranate juice from concentrate. It also uses only pure cane suger (no corn syrups) and is ideal for those consumers who desire a thirst-quenching sparkling beverage with a unique European flavor profile.
“Made with the juices of delicious oranges and pomegranate, Sanpellegrino Sparkling Fruit Beverages Pomegranate Orange has a strong aroma of pomegranate combined with a delicate taste of orange to create a fresh tartness and a finish tending toward sweetness – revitalizing flavours that truly embrace the bubbly, breezy, carefree lifestyle of Italy,” says Jennifer Semley-Robert, Marketing Manager, International Brands, Nestlé Waters Canada. “With the pure pleasure that comes from drinking them, Sanpellegrino Sparkling Fruit Beverages afford consumers everything they want in a beverage product and represent a great example of how our company is giving consumers what they want in increasingly novel, healthy and environmentally sustainable ways.”
The Sanpellegrino Sparkling Fruit Beverage family is now available in six uniquely refreshing flavours -- Aranciata (Sicilian orange), Aranciata Rossa (blood orange), Clementina (Clementine orange), Limonata (lemon), Melograno e Aranciata (pomegranate orange) and Pompelmo (grapefruit).
These up-scale adult sparkling fruit beverages are often consumed as a healthier, trendier alternative to cocktails at fine dining occasions. They are made with all-natural ingredients and are moderately sweet with small bubbles for a uniquely refreshing taste.
The Sanpellegrino Sparkling Fruit Beverage family was re-launched in 2009 following re-formulation to be sodium-free and made from natural ingredients, including more juice. The family was re-introduced in 330 ml. six-packs of 100% recyclable aluminum cans that feature a premium seal to protect the top of the can from pollution and dust, affording consumers better overall hygiene.
The origin and the excellence of the fruits in the Sanpellegrino Sparkling Fruit Beverages are among the keys to their success: the radiance of Italian citrus fruits, the sweetness and deliciousness of their juice and their fragrance formed a solid base for the creation of sparkling fruit beverages, able to offer the senses all the aroma and flavour of freshly squeezed fruit juice.
Today as in the past, the finest oranges and lemons are selected, ripened in the sun of the vast groves of Southern Italy and then picked by hand, at specific harvest time.
The deliciousness of Sanpellegrino sparkling fruit beverages has always been ensured by its exclusive use of high quality citrus and by sophisticated technological innovations, which make it possible to translate the extreme high quality of raw materials into equally first-rate finished products, ensuring nutritional properties remain unaltered and thus avoiding the addition of preservatives.
Sanpellegrino Sparkling Fruit Beverages are a unique product offering due to their unique pasteurization and flavouring processes:
• Pasteurization: A heating process for food and beverage that guarantees an optimal preservation of the product and makes the addition of preservatives unnecessary. In 1932, Sanpellegrino was one of the first companies to turn to pasteurization, considered a revolutionary technological innovation at the time. Innovation, combined with the Italian tradition of “spremuta” (literally squeezed juice), created an exclusive product with a unique taste; and
• Flavouring Process: This production process is an exclusivity of the Sanpellegrino brand that makes it able to respect the old Italian traditional recipe still today. Once concentrated, the juice is kept at low temperature and then the orange paste is kneaded with concentrated orange oil. The only additional ingredients are essential oils, which are strictly natural and extracted from fruit. These add a unique fragrance that recreates for the consumer the sensory experience of holding a ripe, freshly picked piece of fruit. SanPellegrino Sparkling Fruit Beverages are made with sparkling water with naturally occurring (non-synthetic) CO2 gas and are rich in real juices. The balance between delicate bubbles and flavour gives them their unmistakable taste.
Sanpellegrino Sparking Fruit Beverages can be purchased from retail grocers across Canada at a suggested retail price of $5.99 for a six-pack or at fine dining establishments across the country.
About Sanpellegrino Sparkling Fruit Beverages
S.Pellegrino® Sparkling Natural Mineral Water, which dates back as early as the 12th century, became part of the Nestlé Waters Canada family of brands in 1999. With a bit of intuition and luck, mineral water was used to produce a new sparkling fruit beverage called Aranciata. Made up of a combination of simple and healthful ingredients like Sicilian oranges, S.Pellegrino® Sparkling Natural Mineral Water and sugar, it was successfully launched in 1932. In the 1950s, another uniquely bitter-tasting beverage, Chinotto was created. The beverage took its name from a particular citrus fruit that, outside of China, grows only in Sicily, on a plantation located on the slopes of Etna. They later added Limonata, a tart-sweet sparkling lemon beverage. On April 20, 1970, the company changed its name to Sanpellegrino SpA and continued to grow throughout the 1970s and 1980s. In 1999, Sanpellegrino SpA became part of Nestlé Waters. Today, S.Pellegrino® Sparkling Natural Mineral Water is the number two sparkling bottled water brand in Canada and is the brand of choice within Fine Dining Restaurants.
