Canadian Red Cross distributes bottled water to those in need
FREDERICTON, New Brunswick – Nestlé Waters Canada, Canada’s marketshare-leading manufacturer and distributor of healthy beverage choices, today announced that it has donated $50,854 worth of bottled water to its emergency partner, the Canadian Red Cross, who will distribute it New Brunswick residents still without access to their usual water supplies due to lingering power outages in the aftermath of post-tropical storm Arthur.
About 271,808 bottles of Nestlé Pure Life Natural Spring Water and Montclair Natural Spring Water will be delivered to the Red Cross in Fredericton this week to help New Brunswick residents still affected by the power outages. The Company also donated the shipping charges, which amounted to $9,465.
“Arthur caused unprecedented damage to the electrical grid, in turn affecting the ability to pump water from residential wells or community reservoirs and treatment facilities in many areas of the province,” said Bill Lawlor, New Brunswick provincial director of the Canadian Red Cross. “Access to safe drinking water is a priority for those still without electricity. This donation from Nestlé Waters Canada is much appreciated and helps ease the strain on families still coping with this significant disruption to their day-to-day routine.”
Nestlé Waters Canada has donated more than 1,000,000 bottles of water to Canadians in need across the country so far this year because of flooding, severe hydration challenges and/or temporary municipal infrastructure breakdown.
The Company regularly donates bottled water to municipalities and other organizations in need during local, provincial and national emergencies, largely through its national relationship with the Canadian Red Cross as a long-time supporter.
Over the last decade, the Company has donated millions of bottles of water during floods in Alberta, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Saskatchewan, forest fires in British Columbia and northern Ontario and boil-water advisories and other potable water challenges across Canada.
