Since the early 1970s, consumption of soda has grown while tap water consumption has declined. In 1986, soda passed tap water as Canadians’ most chosen beverage.
Recent growth in bottled water consumption demonstrates Canadians’ desire to get back to basics – once again they’re choosing refreshing, clean water that is convenient for their on-the-go lives.
Among the six largest beverage categories, only bottled water is showing steady growth.
Canadians are increasing their bottled water use because they say “it’s healthful and refreshing,” “has no calories,” “it’s convenient.”
Why do more than 60 percent of Canadians drink bottled water? And, who are these people? They come from every province and they span every age group. They share a love of fun and interest in their own well-being. They’re on-the-go people who want to stay that way. And, they’re taking their bottled water along with them. We do our part by making sure their favourite brands are available where they want them.
