Nestlé Waters Canada and its employees sign up for Chilliwack’s Adopt-A-Road program
Employees to keep section of local arterial roadway clean of litter
CHILLIWACK, British Columbia – The City of Chilliwack and Nestlé Waters Canada, Canada’s market share-leading manufacturer and distributor of healthy beverage choices, today announced that the company and its employees have agreed to participate in the city’s Adopt-A-Road program.
The Adopt-A-Road Program is a public service initiative for volunteers to enhance the local litter collection activities of the community where they live by picking up litter along road right-of-ways. It is a way for environmentally-conscious industries like Nestlé Waters Canada to contribute to cleaner and more beautiful road systems in their community. Under the program, the Company has agreed to adopt a section of road allowance and keep it clean. The Company will be recognized by a sign erected by the city acknowledging its efforts.
Nestlé Waters Canada employees from its distribution centre on Unsworth Road will maintain a two-kilometre section of Promontory Road, between Vedder Road and Thomas Road.
“We are very pleased that Nestlé Waters Canada has stepped forward to help keep our community clean and beautiful through participation by its employees in our Adopt-A-Road program,” explained Sharon Gaetz, Mayor, City of Chilliwack. “Nestlé Waters Canada is a valued member of our corporate community.
“Our community will continue to look beautiful year-round with the Company’s ongoing participation in our Adopt-A-Road program.”
“We are pleased to be able to participate in this ongoing environmental program through the volunteer efforts of our employees,” said Gail Cosman, President, Nestlé Waters Canada. “We are a very proud member of the Chilliwack business community and look forward to continuing to work with the City through such programs as Adopt-A-Road.
“We encourage other businesses in the community as well as service clubs and other community organizations to join with us in adopting a road in Chilliwack and keeping it litter-free.”
