Nestlé Waters Canada Statement on the status of our Aberfoyle and Erin Permits

To Press Releases listNov 27, 2017

Nestlé Waters Canada continues to follow all of the rigorous requirements of our Permit to Take Water (PTTW) in both Aberfoyle and Erin.

Under the Government of Ontario’s Water Resources Act Section 34.1 (6) all the terms and conditions of our current PTTWs remain in force until the MOECC has made a decision on our permit renewal applications. We are committed to ensuring our PTTW applications are fully compliant with the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change’s new technical and procedural requirements. The new guidelines include additional scientific evaluations and an increased level of transparency for water bottlers to publically share more data and reporting, as well as undertake robust consultation with community stakeholders including First Nations.

We have made a public commitment to continue to fulfill all of these requirements as protecting Ontario’s water resources is of critical importance to us.

Nestlé Waters Canada will be among the first and one of the largest bottled water companies, with the most comprehensive data set, to have a PTTW application posted on EBR under the new requirements. It is essential that we are fully compliant with these new standards to ensure the integrity of the process. You can find the Water Resource Act on the Government of Ontario website as well as letters from the MOECC authorizing our continued water usage on our website.

Nestlé Waters Canada would like to invite representatives from the Wellington Water Watchers, Save Our Water and the Council of Canadians to meet with us in a safe and open environment to discuss their concerns.
